What is Release Ayrshire.

Release Ayrshire was founded in 2018 after a string of heartbreaking suicides in the local area of East Ayrshire – tragically these suicides were all young men. After realizing how little help there was for people in crisis, the charity was created to challenge the stigmas around men’s mental health and set out to completely diminish the typical stereotype that “men don’t cry”.

We’re now proudly supported by the national Shout text service, giving not just men but ANYONE struggling mentally – access to free, 24/7, confidential mental health support, with just one text.

We fund and provide a crucial first step chatting platform and offer a safe space for anyone to speak freely about any struggles they may be having, whether it’s from day-to-day worries or full mental health crisis. By continuously addressing mental health openly in our communities, Release is constantly challenging the stigma surrounding it.

While our mission began with a focus on men, the service is open to anyone – no matter your age, gender, or background. Because mental health doesn’t discriminate, and everyone deserves to have someone to talk to.
